End of year reflection animation

Image
My year in animation has been another good one. We had lots of fun and engaging products, and in this post I will be going over them and the strengths and weaknesses of each as well as a bit of the process.     The first project We worked on was an introduction to storyboarding in different forms, and how to tell a story using minimalism. Overall it was a fun project and it allowed me to fall back into the groove of animation. It was an easy project and the only weakness I would say is the soundtrack     The second project we worked on was our own choice. I chose to make a rotary scary story. I basically came up with an idea and storyboarded it. Then I went out and filmed the scenes using a camera From there I put it into photoshop and drew it from by frame, while changing the items that I wanted changed in the scene. I liked how it came out in the end, however it was not my favorite and that is due to a couple reasons. First, the background is to still, I should have spent more

This semester in animation I have worked with two things. first a bit of 3D animation then I transitioned over to more of 2D animation, mainly rotoscoping. In 3D animation we messed with mainly skeleton structures, so that way we could bring the creation to life with better movements than before. With rotoscoping I also worked on improving my skills with hat. With my first project being mediocre and then improving a bit with the second project. Here are the three projects I've done this semester and their descriptions.     The shark animation In this animation I used the skeleton structures to create a better moving shark than was possible without using it. It was a pretty easy process, however there was a bit of a struggle mapping out the points so that way they did not become affected through other points. This meant going into the program and messing with the streets of the joints affected movement of area. This took some time, however it helped me learn a lot and I feel that

We have done two major projects in animation so far. I will be showing them and doing a quick runaround of them both.   1:  Shark animation. This is the first animation we did for the semester. It included rigging the "fish" that we created and making it move. I first created the fish, which I chose a shark. After doing that I then put a skeleton inside of it and rigged it so It could move.    The next project we did was the animation of choice.      2: I chose to plan out and create a take on me by aha styled animation. Doing frame by frame by hand.  will put pictures of each step below.  beginning animation.  idea page.  reference  drawings and ideas

Video final

Throughout the year in video i have made lots of projects, and had a good time. This blog is going over three of my works as well as the in and outs.       The first work as you can see was our parody music video. We took a song by Jacob Sutorious and dubbed it over George, who was the main actor. Overall it was very fun to make. It took us about four days to fill and edit all the clips. I didn't personally edit it, but I filmed for the project. A problem that we had was the lip syncing. When it was edited, it was done quickly and the lips didn't quite go with the words. Although we did learn about the importance of time management along the way, because we were scrambling to get our shots done before it turned to night. Overall though it was a fun project that a lot of pre production went into.     Next we have the Napoleon Dynamite trailer remake. Our task was to take a movie based off of high school and remake the trailer. It took us about a week to film and then edi

End of year reflection( animation)

This year has been truly amazing for me in e-comm. I discovered how much animation is to me, but not only that but special effects. I hope to continue my path down both and see where it takes me. We have a set of guarantees in the class that go: Technology, collaboration, , communication, project management, and leadership. I learned something from all of them.      From a technology standpoint, I learned so much. I learned the in and outs of animation, as well as special effects. I also learned how to navigate the programs that we use. One example of this would be the lighting effects in maya.  However , I cannot fit all have learned into a single blog. These skills will help me later in life because I hope to pursue a future career in animation. The main challenge of these learnings was probably memorization, which I'm still working on. Overall though I'm still improving and will continue to do so.      In  a sense of collaboration , I really haven't improved. I

The Plausible impossible

Image
In the world of animation, there is the power to make impossible things seem very plausible. This affect is achieved by taking real world scenes and possibly scenarios and then applying unreal scenarios to them. I will explain this by using the The Mountain, by Disney studios. In this film it takes a plausible scene, such as a mountain town, and adds a very impossible theme such as gouls. In this scene you notice one blaring thing first. The noose. The noose shows that this scene is taking place in around the 1800's and based upon the town itself it is the late 1800's after the first industrial revolution.  So that shows that it is a very plausible place an time, but thats when you notice the impossible. The ghosts flying around in the scene are not realistic at all.  In the next scene you can observe the plausible first, which is the night evening with a gentle breeze, which is likely as well as realistic. Then you can notice the ghosts riding what appears to be ap

Take on me by Aha Professional Blog post review

The music video Take On Me by the band A-ha, is a very well done video as a whole. It is a video about a woman who is in a coffee shop reading a comic. She starts to notice how the comic is coming to life. A hand comes out of the comic book and reaches towards her. She takes it and is whisked away into the comic book world, and embarks on a journey with the lead singer. During this time they are animated and try to escape the men chasing them. I don't want to give away the whole story so i recommend watching it here . It is truly a great work, using the combination of tons of different shots to really tell a story. There is documented shots throughout it, but the main shot tends to be a mid shot or closeup, which works well with the story. One off the most interesting thing about this work is there fact that a majority of it is hand drawn animation. This aspect of the animation allows it to really take off as a unique work. If I could integrate any thing from this video into a
