Video final
Throughout the year in video i have made lots of projects, and had a good time. This blog is going over three of my works as well as the in and outs.
The first work as you can see was our parody music video. We took a song by Jacob Sutorious and dubbed it over George, who was the main actor. Overall it was very fun to make. It took us about four days to fill and edit all the clips. I didn't personally edit it, but I filmed for the project. A problem that we had was the lip syncing. When it was edited, it was done quickly and the lips didn't quite go with the words. Although we did learn about the importance of time management along the way, because we were scrambling to get our shots done before it turned to night. Overall though it was a fun project that a lot of pre production went into.
Next we have the Napoleon Dynamite trailer remake. Our task was to take a movie based off of high school and remake the trailer. It took us about a week to film and then edit. Not one of the best works I've ever done, wish that I didn't have to include it on this list; however, it was required. Although it wasn't my favorite, I shot it with really fun people and had a good time with their collaboration. Some challenges we faced were not having the proper cast being able to show up. This was a pain, but we made do with what we had. We also learned a valuable lesson in making sure to have the right cast ready. Overall though it was fun, just wish more time would have gone into it.
The last film is Terror-Dactyle. This was by far my favorite and really shows how much we have progressed through the year. This was an incredibly fun project to shoot and incredibly fun to see it put together. It started off as one of my scripts, which was darker originally, but I still wanted comedy. So we worked and it turned into this. At this point we didn't really learn anything, rather it was putting out knowledge into a final form. Overall, this film is an amazing one with lots of fun and is probably my favorite one out of all of them.
Class time was something that I used very effectively when I needed it. When I was editing, the only time I would stop was when class was over. However in group projects where I wasn't editing I did a couple of things. I would either help them, or provide critique. However, if that wasn't needed i would stay out of their way and work on other things, as to not distract them. Outside of class I would watch other films and short films,to gather information on how to improve shots and such.
My strengths in this class was probably editing. Although from these clips you can't really tell, but I am more into animation and computer animation. So special effects was my specialty. However it wasn't needed much in these, or it was basic effects. My best editing skills are shown in my other works, not necessarily these. My area of improvement however would probably protein to time management. With most of the films I was rushing around to get things done last minute. The only one that was done properly time wise was the las tone, which was Terror Dactyle.
My final thoughts on the whole year however are extremely positive. I learned a lot and had a fun time in the process. It was really enjoyable to see your works come to life in such a fashion. If I had to change one thing it would be the quality. I would work on initial quality in my beginning videos. Next year I am going into animation so I won't be in this class anymore. However it was really fun and I had an amazing time.
