End of year reflection( animation)
This year has been truly amazing for me in e-comm. I discovered how much animation is to me, but not only that but special effects. I hope to continue my path down both and see where it takes me. We have a set of guarantees in the class that go: Technology, collaboration, , communication, project management, and leadership. I learned something from all of them.
From a technology standpoint, I learned so much. I learned the in and outs of animation, as well as special effects. I also learned how to navigate the programs that we use. One example of this would be the lighting effects in maya. However, I cannot fit all have learned into a single blog. These skills will help me later in life because I hope to pursue a future career in animation. The main challenge of these learnings was probably memorization, which I'm still working on. Overall though I'm still improving and will continue to do so.
In a sense of collaboration, I really haven't improved. I have always had a good sense of collaboration when it comes to projects, so I didn't have any struggles with that aspect. I would say though, that if I had to absolutely choose a struggle, it would be not doing everything myself. I prefer to do everything myself so i can make sure it is one hundred percent in my image. However, I realize that is not how life works. So i accept it really easily. If i have learned anything, maybe without me knowing it, then it will help further down the road when more projects come about. (Sumo, a group project)
My communication final, is very similar to my collaboration one. In fact communication and collaboration are pretty close nit. So it should be of no surprise that I really don't have any struggles with communication. I talk to my group when I need to, and I don't talk when we are not allowed. Im pretty much the model students when it comes to communication. I get along with everyone pretty easily as well, so there is no grudges. So in conclusion there really has not been any challenges pertaining to animation. However , If i have gotten better, or improved, without me knowing; it will help further down the line in my future career choices. Due to the fact that people enjoy a well spoken person, who doesn't overstep boundaries, yet is still fun to talk to.
Project management in another thing that I don't really have many struggles with. If I had to say one, it would be probably be handing out work in the first place. I like to do it myself, however, if I do that then it takes longer. So I have learned that with project management, that if I spread out the work, then it will get done faster. So I have learned through project management how to spread work out in order to make my life easier. I will continue to work on this as well. This well help (again) in my future career because it will allow for a bette outcome of work, and if I chose partners who have decent skill levels, it will allow for maybe a better outcome of the project than what I could do by myself.
Finally for Leadership, I learned a little bit. I don't really like to step forward to much as a leader, because I know that I will take over, so I usually sit back and let someone else take the mantle. I have learned that this is truly a good thing to do. A person doesn't have to always be the leader of a project, and if you step back sometimes, it allows for other ideas to come in. As well as most of the time, these ideas are really good, maybe even better than yours. So I guess that the thing I learned is to not take over and this ultimate leader, only push when needed. This will help in my future career because it will allow for a better outcome on projects.
In conclusion it has been a pretty great year. I have learned a lot and will continue to learn next year. I am going into the animation strand of e-comm, and am super excited to work with special effects. I seem to like it more than just plain animation, but, we will see how it goes.
