Animation overview

Throughout my semester in animation, I have learned many things and gone through some interesting things in the process. Overall I have enjoyed it and in this blog I will be going through some of my favorite projects and talking about them.
The first one I want to talk about is my castle.

I really enjoyed this project as a whole, because it was the first time that I really dwelled into the 3D aspect of animation. Although it wasn't an animation necessarily, it was still lots if fun and would later help with my actual 3D animation. Overall it was fun and taught me about divisions and the basics of 3D modeling. If I could change anything then I would add more, like a tree and also a draw bridge. In the end I don't think I will forget this project because all it taught me about 3D modeling.
My next project is my walk cycle.

This animation really taught me a lot of important aspects in 2D animation. I really enjoyed this piece because I am happy with the comical turn out. The people weren't in the original guidelines, but I felt it would be better if I added more life to it. o I'm overall pretty happy with the results of the project. If I could change one thing it would probably be the background. I should have found a clearer pic.I also wish I had more time so I could have synced the peoples walking better. With the amount of time I had though I am happy with it. It really taught me a-lot about walk cycles and also different aspects of making realistic animations.
The next project is my hammer.
It was a fun project that really taught me a lot about beveling, n also sculpting using vertices and edges. Without the important lessons of sculpting I learned in this project, I probably would have struggled immensely with my final. If I could change anything about it, I would probably would have worked on texturing and lighting better, to see how realistic I could have gotten it. Overall it was a fun yet simple project, that was worth it in the end for the final product.
Then comes my layered scene animation.

This was an immensely fun project that allowed me to have some artistic creativity. This project really dove into the speed aspects of animation, as well as placement, and realism. It really taught me how to make a solid scene that people will read as realistic movement. I also went above and beyond with the water aspect, which was really cool. If I could go back though, I would do better drawings as well as add a better water pattern for the animation. In the end it was fun and taught me a lot.
The next project is my ice cream 3D animation.

This was one of my favorite projects because it allowed me to experiment with the aspects of 3D animation. I added the melting ice cream myself, because it wasn't in the instructions. I love the way it turned out, but if I could go back and change one aspect, it would be the lighting. Need to figure out better ways to render these things because they always come out so dark. Overall I like the way it turned out and I also like the important lessons it taught me about 3D animation.
My final favorite is my Dragon animation.(watch with sound!!)

This is my favorite, not because the quality but because of the story. I really enjoyed putting it together and had a fun time doing so. I also learned a lot about puppet pin tools that I never knew I could do before. If I could go backhand change something, it would be the quality. I would work more on the drawings themselves and add more pieces to the dragon, so I could have had more natural movement. I also would have liked to go back and work on the nights run, in order to make it more natural, but it kept messing up, so I ran out of time. Overall though it was my favorite project, and I see myself going back later and redoing it, maybe even add a fight scene, rather than just sounds.
Finally my pen. Not much to say about it. It was accumulative knowledge with very vague directions. I like the way it turned out, but I need to work on the rendering.
